Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me.
In he environment I am deploying, I currently run DCS:SA 6.5 MP1 HF8 (6.5.0.493) as the management server with a MS-SQL backend DB with DCS Agent version 6.5.0.470 on clients.
It has been noticed that when applying a new DCS policy to the agents that the "translate.exe" process is taking a long time to complete. e.g. Out of 6 Win2008 servers with the same version of DCS agent, 5 servers take 1.5 hours to apply the new revision of the policy, whereas 1 server is being reported as running "translate.exe" for 6 hours.
It has also been reported that translate.exe is consuming between 25-30% of the CPU resources. Is this normal?
I understand that the number of rules within a policy will affect the time the policy takes to apply, however certain policies are taking an hour or more to apply. I have seen the time taken to apply new revisions of this policy grow from 5 mins to over an hour.
I was wondering whether there was anyway in which the "translate.exe" process can be accelerated or whether deploying version 6.5.0.493 of the DCS agent would speed up the application of a new policy revision? (I cannot find any information about fixes that are in the newer version of the DCS agent.)
Also, I presume that the amount of free disk space would be a factor in applying a new policy revision, so what is the best practice with regards to available disk space?
If anyone can provide some advise on how to speed up the application of a new policy revision, or any other best practices for this, that would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Richard
